Author and cyclist Janice Kenyon realized a dream when she pedalled across Canada. Fellow cyclists included another granny from her hometown, a grandpa from Montreal for about half the ride, and several other adventurers for parts of the west and also in the east. Together they pushed up and over the Rockies, blew across the prairies, cut through the Canadian Shield, followed mighty rivers in Québec, and finally came to rest on the shores of Newfoundland. Celebrating her sixty-sixth birthday en route was a milestone; completing the guide book and travelogue of her odyssey has been another adventure altogether.

Janice is a veteran of several bike tours covering most of central and northern Europe as well as a cross-continental tour of the US. She is also author of No Problem! Worldwise Travel Tips for Mature Adventurers, Orca Book Publishers, 1996, and Any Damn Thing, Gomer Press, 2001. Cycling Canada has added unexpected dimensions to her life.

“When the ride ended, and I pedalled into the salt water at Quidi Vidi, I was speechless with awe – not only at my accomplishment, but at the fact of Canada – its landscapes, its people, and its history that I had just experienced on my bike. I had spent the last three and a half months immersed in this truly unique land. What a privilege!”

In Bike Ride with a Twist Janice relates her adventures through a traveller’s eyes as well as a cyclist’s pedalling. Her combination of Highlights and Logistics create stories of happenings along the way while telling the reader how to get there. Whether you are on your bike or in your living room, Janice will make you laugh, and maybe even cry with her at the end. But then, there really is no end to this ongoing journey....
